Pain is real..
And so is hope.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

Do you sometimes get nightmares or flashbacks of an event from the past that you’d rather leave behind? Maybe you went through something traumatic as a child that you manage to forget about most of the time. Still, occasionally something may trigger you to remember past events when you least expect it, which can impact how you feel and make you want to escape a situation.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a condition which can have significant impacts on a person’s day to day life.  Unfortunately the LGBTQIA+ community can experience these events more so, given the levels of bullying, discrimination, harassment, rejection and sexual assaults that can occur.

But despite everything, they also love to have a great time and play in online casinos. Many of them choose Slotogate platform because all the best are collected there casinos that use payid

Due to the complex nature of incidents related to trauma is not just limited to PTSD it can be broken down into three types.

  • Acute Trauma – linked to one highly distressing event such as rape, assault or natural disaster.
  • Chronic Trauma – caused by exposure to a traumatic event over an extended period of time such as domestic violence or bullying.
  • Complex Trauma – generally linked to multiple/repetitive events starting from a young age such as any kind of abuse, divorce or domestic violence.

PTSD can occur at any time, from straight after the traumatic event to years later, and can manifest in several different ways, such as insomnia, irritability, nervousness about everyday activities, guilt, or isolation.

If you have PTSD, it’s important to know that what happened to you was not your fault, and neither are the symptoms that you’re experiencing. Just because a traumatic incident happened in the past doesn’t mean you should be ‘fine now,’ and if you feel pressure to ‘just get over it’. Know that it can take some time to recover. The good news is, is not a life sentence and you can manage trauma responses with the right help.

There are various treatments available for PTSD and caring therapists available to help you face your past so you can move towards the vision you have for your life by managing any internal fears or barriers.

  • Provide mindfulness strategies and relaxation techniques to remain in the ‘here and now’
  • Integrate practical and evidence based techniques with the goal of exacerbating trauma-related thought patterns and disarm negative styles of thinking
