Anxiety is Tough,
but Beating it Doesn't Have to be.

What Is Anxiety?

Have you ever felt stressed and worried without knowing why? Or have you ever felt like danger is present, even when you are objectively safe? Or experienced a racing heartbeat for no reason. These can be symptoms of anxiety.

Low-level stress or anxiety is a very normal emotion that we all experience. It can motivate us to prepare for and deal with new or challenging situations that life presents.

For some of us, anxiety can become constant and overwhelming, interfering with our daily lives or routines. If worries start to impact your life significantly, it might be time to talk to someone who can help. According to a BeyondBlue study, one in four Australians experiences anxiety at some point in their lives, so you are not alone. Anxiety can manifest in many different ways. The effects can range from mild to severe and can vary from person to person. Anxiety is very treatable, and there are many avenues to seek support and develop strategies to beat the anxiety beast.

If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, you are not alone; we are here to help.

Some common symptoms of anxiety include:

  • Excessive worry or stress about everyday events.
  • Feeling agitated, restless, or on edge.
  • Difficulty concentrating or mind going blank.
  • Irritability that leads to arguments or conflict.
  • Social anxiety or avoidance of public speaking.
  • Muscle tension, headaches, or dizziness.
  • Sleep problems, such as difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep.
  • Chest tightness, difficulty breathing.

How Our Team Can Help

At Unboxed Pride, we offer support by developing a plan that may include:

We’re here to listen and talk about how you are feeling

Pressure to succeed, social media, family and social pressure, past trauma, fear of failure, or social situations can all trigger anxiety. We create a safe space to listen and explore the causes of your anxiety. Then develop a step-by-step program to work through strategies to manage triggers, identify the start of an anxiety process, and support to manage it more effectively.

Developing Coping Skills

We all have certain thought patterns and habitual responses that may contribute to anxiety. Our therapists can help identify and understand why you feel this way, help break the cycle, and provide a range of techniques to support you in feeling safe when overwhelmed.

Therapy and Relaxation Techniques

Mindfulness – A Relaxing Tool for any Time of the Day.

Mindfulness is the practice of focusing on the here and now and shutting off distractions around you, in the past and the future. It is as simple as breathing slowly and with awareness, and it may only take two minutes to get started. It is a beautiful tool when anxiety starts to simmer up as all you have to do is breathe mindfully, and you will feel your heart rate drop and racing thoughts slow.

Some great Apps can get you started. Remember – you don’t have to pay for mindfulness exercises; there are free ones.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is a type of psychotherapy (talking therapy) based on the idea that how you think and act affects how you feel. It is an excellent tool for managing anxiety.

Our Therapists are familiar with the practice of CBT. By talking with you, they can explore what negative situations trigger you emotionally, talk through your thoughts and ideas, and then look at how that affects your behaviours.

Understanding who you are and why you do things is often the tipping point to reaching wellness and moving you toward a life free from the impacts of anxiety.

Our Therapists Specialised for Treating Anxiety

Our LGBTIQ+ experienced therapist will provide you with support, care, and understanding to help you identify, manage and relieve your anxiety. We are here with you every step of the way and are committed to progress and supporting you in your journey.
