Anger Management

Feeling angry is a normal emotion we all experience. You can feel anger under many circumstances, and it’s a natural and healthy response to injustice, unexpected situations, and confrontation.

Anger can result in unwanted stress, irrational thoughts, or behaviours that can negatively affect your relationships, work, and daily life. Anger can also affect your feelings and moods, exacerbating more rage.

More severe anger can feel uncontrollable. If your anger results in behaviour that leaves you guilty or causes conflict with others, you may need to seek professional help. Anger management counselling can help you safely identify, process, and manage your feelings of anger to reduce its severity and impact on your actions and others.

Here are some common indicators that anger could be having an impact on your life:

  • It takes a long time to feel calm again after something makes you angry.
  • Constantly feeling on edge or anxious, experiencing headaches or high blood pressure.
  • Urges to verbally, emotionally, or physically attack when conflict occurs.
  • You turn to drugs or alcohol to manage your anger.
  • Trying to resolve past disputes becomes common.
  • People close to you have voiced their concerns to you about your anger.
  • You feel shame or regret as an outcome of a confrontation or conflict.

How Our Team Can Help

At Unboxed Pride, we offer support by developing a plan that may include:

A Safe Space to Talk

Just talking about your feelings is a huge first step towards healing. Our online therapists are caring, non-judgemental and ready to listen, and you can choose with whom, when and from where you meet.

Trigger Identification

Together with your therapist, you can take the time to work through your feelings and identify what circumstances (or people or places) trigger your anger. From here, you can be more prepared for these triggers and implement proactive strategies to eliminate or reduce your anger.

Conflict Resolution and Mindfulness Techniques

There are many therapeutic methods that can be developed for anger management.  Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), as well as a range of other techniques, are highly effective ways of using exercises and questions to understand and resolve anger triggers.  The development of conflict resolution strategies, mindfulness, and deep breathing techniques are also valuable tools to develop a sense of presence and calm.

Our Team Are Here for You

We are here with you every step of the way and are committed to progress and supporting you in your journey.
