Gender Identity

Gender identity can be described as how you perceive your gender and how you want others to see you. Sadly, some people lack understanding and discriminate against and bully members of the LBGTIQ+ community; this is amplified within the Gender Identity circle, which can lead to mental health outcomes like anxiety, depression and substance abuse.

It can feel confusing going through a transition process; you may try to hide your feelings from family and friends, fearing rejection or judgment. You may struggle with what you’re experiencing and understand where you fit in the world; schooling, relationships, work, and friendships can be impacted. If you notice changes in your behaviour, it can be beneficial to talk with a therapist to help process any negative emotions or feelings.

Unboxed Pride has been built for LGBTIQ+ members seeking genuine connection and support with a constant lens of compassion and non-judgment. Our range of psychologists, counsellors and psychotherapists all have success stories, caring for community members on their journey.

For parents, carers or family members of anyone who identifies as LGBTIQ+, know that it can be as much of a journey for you as your loved one. You may want to understand more about what your child is going through or how to support them. You may need help clarifying or processing your thoughts and emotions. Our therapists can offer insight and support to guide you through gender transition.

How Our Team Can Help

Here are some of the ways that our Unboxed Pride therapists can support you:

  • A safe space to talk, constantly being offered a lens of compassion without judgement.
  • Therapists with lived experience who understand what you are going through.
  • Provide support and talk about other individuals who have gone through transitions.
  • Support around planning conversations and strategies to help facilitate a positive experience.
  • Offer strategy settings to help manage complex outcomes associated with gender revealing to others.
  • Provide evidence-based approaches to help manage any negative emotions related to your transition, which may include dialectical behavioural therapy and mindfulness techniques to promote achieving self-awareness and acceptance.

Our Team Is Here For You.

We are here with you every step of the way and are committed to supporting you on your journey.
